Do you absolutely LOVE Christmas? How about ugly Christmas sweaters? Top that off with a hot chocolate bar and some yummy cookies, and you have the perfect recipe for a load of holiday fun! Come to the HCPL to make your very own ugly Christmas sweater and make some wonderful holiday memories. Please bring your own sweatshirt or t-shirt to decorate. All other materials will be provided. It is time to ring in the Holiday Season! First on the Christmas agenda is the Henderson Merchants’ Annual Invitational Christmas Parade. The Parade is sponsored by the Henderson Shrine Club and is supported through donations of the Henderson City and County Merchants.
A Jazzy Little Christmas

Candlelight Christmas Tour

The Garden Club of Henderson is hosting their first ever Candlelight Christmas Tour of seven beautiful homes. Tickets are limited and will be on sale for $25 in The Depot Gift Shop. All proceeds go back to The Garden Club of Henderson. The members of this club are those who plant all 50 of the beautiful downtown urns with flowers and boxwoods each year.

Set in Killarney, Ireland in the late 1920’s, Christmas In Killarney shows what it means to celebrate Christmas the ‘Irish’ way, where many of our own Christmas traditions originated. Winter Holiday Extravaganza

Head over to the library for a fun-filled day celebrating Christmas and New Years! There will be crafts and light refreshments. HCC’s STEM Club will be making shrinky dink ornaments with the kids, and The Giving Tree Village will be set up. Santa will also be stopping by for a visit. Nature’s Switch to Winter Hike

Winter is officially just around the corner! Bring the entire family to this free, seasonal guided hike up and down the trails of John James Audubon State Park. Their Park Naturalist will be looking for signs along the way that offer clues to how nature’s creatures and plants have ‘switched gears’ for winter survival. Dress for the weather. The event will be canceled if there is rain/adverse weather conditions that day. Everyone will meet on the museum’s front porch. First Day Hike

John James Audubon Museum Front Lawn
Set your goals for a healthy foot forward by joining the nationwide movement to get outdoors on the first day of the year. All participants, please meet the naturalist on the Audubon Museum front lawn to be counted in this First Day event and help beat their attendance record. Hikers should be prepared to experience the winter woods from pristine valley to upland forest and back, a picturesque 1-mile guided hike over hilly terrain. Sturdy shoes, walking sticks, and attire suitable for the day’s weather are recommended. Stay tuned to Facebook and Instagram announcements, in case weather conditions should cancel this free event.
