The Henderson Tourist Commission has selected a new Executive Director charged with leading the development of Henderson’s tourism economy.
Commission Chair Jeff Troxel today announced the selection of Abby Dixon as the Commission’s new Executive Director. Dixon, who succeeds Kyle Hittner in the position, will assume her duties as of July 3rd.
According to Troxel,
“Abby is a unique blend of creativity, intellect, and positive energy. Beside the educational background and marketing experience that the position demands, she brings a solid reputation as a talented professional with exceptional people skills and a can-do attitude.”
“In her roles as Marketing Director for the Southwest Indiana Chamber of Commerce and Director of the Downtown Henderson Partnership, Abby has demonstrated a finely honed sense of place, a passion for community building, superb marketing instincts, and a determination to raise the achievement bar.”
“She is well prepared to continue building a strong community brand, and is eager to accept the challenge of engaging local residents in promoting the area and significantly increasing the economic impact of tourist visits.”
Launched in March, the selection process attracted more than 75 applicants from multiple states. Troxel commended the dedication of volunteers serving on the tourist commission who all invested many hours in the process:
“We were pleased with the number and quality of applicants, but that also meant more time applying selection criteria, narrowing the field, identifying finalists, analyzing the results of phone screens and job match assessments, and conducting several in-person interviews. The Commission Board would like to recognize and thank Maddy Fritz for helping us in the process.”
In addition to Troxel, members of the Tourist Commission include Rodney Thomas, Katie Groves, Mark Kellen, Nick Patel, Kristie Staton, and Kiran Patel.
