Have you ever been to the rodeo? If not, then you should go, especially if you love horses!
A few of the activities you can see at the rodeo are barrel racing, wagonracing, and buckin’ broncos.
In barrel racing, mostly women ride and that inspires me. Its exciting and thrilling to watch the fast horses rush around the dusty barrels kicking up the dirt behind them!
Wagon racing is short, but fun. As the horses rush around the middle of the arena, all of the people are on the edge of their seats wondering which wagon will win.
Buckin’ broncos are always exciting. Buckin’ broncos are wild mustangs that aren’t tamed. Men, and occasionally women, get on the stallion’s muscular back and try to stay on for at least eight seconds.
There are a lot of various types of horses that compete in the rodeos such as the American Quarter Horse, Appaloosa, Paint, Palomino, and Mustang.
The American Quarter Horse is usually bay, but it can also be speckled white with the main color of deep brown.
Appaloosas are the prettiest, in my opinion. They are black, brown, or chestnut. What makes them stand out from other horses is their white hind quarters which are speckled with spots matching the color of their coat.
Paint horses are really pretty. They can be any combination of white and another such as bay, black, or chestnut.
The Palomino’s coat is colored gold with a white or light cream mane and tail. They could also have a white blaze and socks.
Mustangs are the wildest, strongest horses. They are mostly used for buckin’ broncos and cattle roping. They can be almost any color. The most common colors are bay, brown, black, and sorrel. Other colors are chestnut and buckskin.
Rodeos travel all over the country. In July, the Lone Star Rodeo will come to the Henderson County Fairgrounds. You should attend the exciting events and see all the beautiful horses.
