Tell us about your family? Kids, pets, etc. 

My husband, Matt, and I have been married almost 10 years. I have two sons, Dylan age 24 and Luke age 7, and a 3-year-old Labradoodle named Lilac.

What do you do for a living and how long have you been in that position?  

I am the Executive Director of Henderson Economic Development. I started in this position, three months ago, on March 9, 2020. It was a very interesting time to start in a new position.

How do you balance home and work life? 

Over the last three months this has been a little more difficult. While working from home, home and work life definitely overlapped. We have been back in the office for the past three weeks. This has helped with setting boundaries and priorities. It takes a village, and I am fortunate to have great support at home and work.

What do you love most about living and working in a small town?

I love Henderson. I don’t know how to pick what I love most. I think I would have to say it’s the quality of life and the people. There are so many wonderful people here. We are so fortunate to live in a community where everyone works together to ensure Henderson is a great place to live and work.

What do you find most rewarding about your new position? 

It’s early. I have only been in the new position for a few months. I would have to say so far, the most rewarding part has been the support I have received. A big part of that support has been from my teammates, Whitney Risley and Stephanie Lucas. They have welcomed me with open arms. 

What hobbies do you and your family enjoy? 

We love being outdoors. We love to go hiking at Audubon Park, fishing at Sandy Lee Watkins Park, spending time on our farm, and we are always up for an outdoor adventure. 

If you could summarize the importance and benefit of the Henderson Economic Development’s role in our community, what would you say?

Henderson Economic Development is vital to our community. Our mission is helping businesses, large and small, succeed in Henderson and Henderson County by connecting people and communities through economic development. The objectives of the HED are to create jobs and to implement sustainable community and economic development by providing resources, to retain and expand business in the area, to attract new business and industry to the county and to perform workforce development activities. We want Henderson to be a place that our kids and future generations can come home to and that there will be jobs for them.
